SEAL SAFARI

In the ÖSTERGÖTLAND archipelago
nature, history and adventure
SUMMER 2026

Join us on an exciting adventure and experience seals in their natural habitat. The seal safari departs from Fyrudden or Tyrislöt and travels via Harstena, on the border between the Sankt Anna and Gryt archipelagos.

Far out at sea, by the Sandsänkan lighthouse, there are low rocky skerries where a seal colony has re-established itself. The area is a protected seal reserve with a radius of 1 km around the lighthouse.

The seal safari operates between 28 June and 16 August – on Wednesdays from Tyrislöt and Sundays from Fyrudden.

TYRISLÖT – WEDNESDAYS

On Wednesdays, the boat departs from Tyrislöt harbour at 4:00 PM, heading for Harstena. There you will enjoy a guided tour of the island before the journey continues out to the Sandsänkan seal protected area.

The seal watching lasts approximately two hours. After returning to Harstena, there is time for dinner, either at Restaurant Loftet or with your own packed meal, before the boat returns to Tyrislöt at around 9:00 PM.

FYRUDDEN – SUNDAYS

On Sundays, the boat departs at 4:00 PM from Fyrudden harbour, with Harstena as the destination. During the stop on the island, you will take part in a guided tour focusing on Harstena’s history and the former seal hunting that once took place here.

The tour then continues to the Sandsänkan seal protected area for seal watching. After returning to Harstena, there is time to explore the island further or enjoy dinner before the boat heads back towards Fyrudden in the evening.

PRICES

800 SEK per person (meals and accommodation not included). Children under 12 years pay half price.
